Thanks to a generous response to our partner Hand in Hand’s appeal for funding, JJ Excel College now has a new kitchen. Built earlier this year by building construction students and their tutors, it is complete with an energy-saving stove to minimise on the use of firewood. It even includes a semi-detached bedroom for the cook, so he can get up very early to prepare the porridge for breakfast!

And the work continues…this term, using bricks which they have made themselves, students are constructing a bathroom for boys:
