Highlights from Term One

Halfway through another year already!

Last year’s national exam results were released early in January and February. Candidates who pass are graded from Division One (the highest grade) to Division Four. At JJ Community Transformation (JJ) we were particularly pleased to get a record nine students in Division One at Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or O level and 35 of the 38 primary school candidates achieved at least Division Two, with three in Division Three. A level students did well too with eight out of the ten students gaining two or more principal passes and qualifying to enrol for degree level courses.

Over 250 new children enrolled at JJ’s three institutions during the term and the primary school, secondary school and college continue to serve a total of over 800 children and young people.

For the first time this year the primary and secondary schools competed in district sports competitions, having only played friendly matches previously. JJ is proud of their performances, one of the primary school pupils was even selected to represent the District at national level in athletics!

Mike, from Reconxile (UK), made a second visit to facilitate training in “setting up a Bible based business” by Reconxile. The short course will be incorporated into college activities so that all students gain a good understanding of the theory and the practice behind running successful income generating activities – very useful for all students, upon their graduation.
